Happy Times?

Christmas is a time for family

Not everyone is going to have a happy Christmas this year

Family Christmas

We are constantly being bombarded with images of a happy family christmas wherever we look these days.

Family times can be very tricky to navigate and especially at Christmas. Relatives are not always the easiest to get on with and when all together, tempers can get frayed and old grievances resurface.

It's no wonder that between Christmas and the New Year there are more decisions to separate and divorce than at any other time of the year.

In January, many of us make New Year's resolutions, from finally deciding to change our diet, plan that dream trip or change career. For some of us it's a scary time, especially when we decide to make drastic relationship changes in our lives.

If you are deciding to make radical changes in your life, please do make sure you take care of the legal stuff too. If there are family members you no longer want contact with, then make sure your will is updated to reflect your wishes. If you are changing career and maybe starting your own business, think about what would happen to your business if you were suddenly taken ill or were to pass away. Would your existing responsibilities be able to be fulfilled?

All, this might sound a little over the top right now, but believe me it does need thinking about, as we never know what's around the corner.

That said, although big change can be a bit scary, don't ever let that fear stop you following your dreams.

"I have lots of things to prove to myself. One is that I can live my life fearlessly." -Oprah Winfrey.

Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone.
