But at the heart of what we do are the experiences of our husband-and-wife team, Robert Shaw and Carol Shaw.
Several years ago, Robert was diagnosed out of the blue with a primary brain tumour, which was both a shock and wake up call for him to get his affairs in order.
Not long before the first lockdown in 2020, Robert was then diagnosed with prostate cancer, followed by a small amount of skin cancer diagnosed in 2021, further emphasising the uncertainty of the future and necessity of planning ahead.
By rewriting his will and setting lasting powers of attorneys in place, Robert became confident that should the worst happen, everything would be taken care of.
The passion we have for what we do at Robert Shaw & Co comes from the peace of mind that wills and power of attorney have given us, and the fact that this can help other people to protect their loved ones when the time comes.
Nice to meet you!
I’m Carol, and I head up administration for Robert Shaw & Co, using my sixteen years of experience providing financial advice and assistance to help me provide the best systems in-house for managing clients.
When I’m not heading up the administration function, I also give talks and lectures about the various support offered by Robert Shaw & Co.
Having recently obtained National Lottery funding for my debt business, I now also provide debt and money workshops in the local community.
When I’m out of the office, I enjoy running my other business, Highly Strung Jewellery, and teaching arts and crafts workshops both for individuals and groups.
I’ve also authored a book, The Brain Tumour’s Wife, and have recently participated in the BBC’s A Matter of Life and Debt as a debt advisor.
Nice to meet you!
I’m Robert, and I’ve worked in the financial services industry for over thirty-five years and started as an Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) and recently have worked as a Mortgage and General Insurance Advisor.
I’d summarise my approach as a ‘thinking outside the box’ one when it comes to problem solving, as I look at each client situation and offer the best possible solutions for all of their estate planning and future financial needs.
My expertise is in the implementation of lasting power of attorney and all things property related (I’d even go as far as to say my expertise is second to none!).
When I’m not working, my hobbies include going to the gym, walking in the countryside, and participating in rowing and cycling events to raise funds for Help Harry Help Others Cancer Charity and The Brain Tumour Charity, which I’m an ambassador for.
